NSW: April figures show slight decrease in drought.
The New South Wales Government has released official drought figures for April, showinga tiny decrease in the number of drought-declared areas.
However, Energy and Utilities Minister FRANK SARTOR says the threat of compulsory waterrestrictions remains.
Mr SARTOR says average dam levels in the Sydney Basin are currently at 58 per centand compulsory water restrictions kick in when the average level drops to 55 per cent.
Speaking to reporters at Warragamba Dam, he's urged people living in and around Sydneyto continue voluntary water restrictions.
April drought figures show NSW is now 99.5 per cent in drought, down from 99.6 previously.
Agriculture Minister IAN MACDONALD says only a tiny sliver of the state in the Tweedregion has slipped out of drought.
Mr MACDONALD says he'll contact federal agriculture minister WARREN TRUSS to look atextending Exceptional Circumstances assistance to farmers in one-quarter of NSW that currentlydoesn't get full EC relief.
