Vic: Church reviews safety after four stabbings this year
A Melbourne church will review its security procedures after an attack on three peopleby a knife-wielding woman and the fatal stabbing of a homeless man.
Two women and a man remain in hospital in stable conditions after being stabbed duringa concert at the inner-city Collins Street Baptist Church about 6.15pm (AEST) yesterday.
Police say a 45-year-old woman has been arrested over the incident in which a 39-year-oldwoman selling tickets was repeatedly stabbed after asking the woman to move from the church'sfront steps.
A 31-year-old woman inside the church was also stabbed and a 58-year-old man - ABCRadio Victoria host PETER BIRCH - was attacked when he intervened.
The Uniting Church's Reverend TIM COSTELLO says the incident has forced a securityreview by the church to ensure the safety of volunteer workers.
The incident is the second stabbing at the church in ten weeks.
ANDREW SMITH, a 24-year-old homeless man, was stabbed in the head while he slept onthe church steps on June 14. He died a month later.
