Vic: Last ever Miss Australia is Sheree Primmer =2

Ms Primmer, 20, is from Erina on the NSW Central Coast.

She told reporters she is a student of Media and Communications at Newcastle University
and wanted to work in public relations.

She denied that the Miss Australia Quest was a beauty contest and said entrants were
marked on criteria such as intelligence and articulation.

"I believe that the reason that most of the girls get involved is about inner beauty
and providing opportunities for people with cerebal palsy."

Ms Primmer said although her official role lasts only 24 hours, she will retain the
Miss Australia title for the year and appear at official functions.

Also tonight, Melbourne shop assistant Catherine Doggett, 21, was awarded the title
of Miss Australia Fundraiser 2000.

Ms Doggett, a team leader in the menswear department at the Myer Melbourne store, raised
$180,000 for the Spastic Society.

She said she thought the quest had had its day and it was now time to find new role
models for Australian women.
